By now some of you must be saying “Solange….again!!” Now since the very early stages of Love Button I professed my love for SoSo, so I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share her latest feature, this time with Lurve Magazine. Bare with me!
In the feature she speaks candidly about breaking ties with hair company Carol’s Daughter over disagreements over the proper message that should be conveyed about choice of hair styles:
““I’m actually no longer a part of Carol’s Daughter, but throughout my entire time working with them, I was constantly fighting for the right message to be heard. The message that, the way we wear our hair is a personal choice, there’s no right or wrong way; one way doesn’t make us more intelligent, or more superficial, and every one makes that choice for very different reasons.”
She of course also had an awesome shoot for the magazine, that included pictures I adored:
As well as some that I’m not quite sure what to make of!
Any thoughts on the shoot?
As the summer comes to a screeching halt and the blistering heat begins to subside, I’ve been in the mood for a long bike ride. It’s been many moons since my last ride and these pictures sure are peaking my interest. But lets be honest, who looks this glamorous biking?
Those of you who have been reading my blog regularly (I love you, by the way!) are well aware of my unwavering love for Solange. That being said, I was absolutely thrilled about her feature in the September issue of Elle magazine, where she provided readers with a sneak peek into her Brooklyn pad.
As you can imagine, SoSo’s home is a perfect reflection of her urban eclecticism. Describing how her personal style inspired her home decor, she states:
I had a moment when I looked at my closet and I was like ‘Whoa, I don’t really have any basics. And with my house, I wanted to find a balance of having great colors and patterns but also a really livable, warm, serene space.
Check out the images from the five page spread:
Solange is the new face of Madewell, J.Crew’s younger/hipper sister store. This is her first major contract with a fashion label and I couldn’t be happier for her!
Madewell’s Fall selection includes a variety of bold prints and textures that perfectly compliment Solange’s eclectic style. I call that a match made in style heaven!
Check out this sneak peek of their campaign video:
Just the other day, I was having a conversation with my friend about how enamored I was with Solange’s summer box braids and that she was not just Beyonce’s little sister, but a budding fashion icon in her own right.
We were also discussing how awesome it would be if Beyonce would follow suit and rock a more natural hairstyle. So imagine my elation when these pictures surfaced on the internet today!
They even managed to get a sneak peek of baby Carter’s sweet little face. Fuzzy, I know, but I believe it was a covert operation.
