As the summer comes to a screeching halt and the blistering heat begins to subside, I’ve been in the mood for a long bike ride. It’s been many moons since my last ride and these pictures sure are peaking my interest. But lets be honest, who looks this glamorous biking?
One of the primary reasons I decided to start this blog was because of my interest in being a part of a community of like minded individuals. On my quest to network and build community, I came across Bloggers Like Me, founded by Leslie of Fashion D’Jour.
Thanks to Bloggers Like Me, I’ve become acquainted with countless bloggers I greatly admire. In light of my burgeoning blogging network, I’ve decided to showcase a few of my favorite blogs and bloggers in a series I’ve coined “Currently Obsessed: Blogger Crush.” The series will be commencing shortly as I already have my first blog crush lined up.
If you’re a blogger and you would like to join the Bloggers Like Me Network click here.
In addition, if you would like to be considered for my Currently Obsessed:Blogger Crush Series, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I had been meaning to write a post about Blake Lively for some time now and lo and behold I googled her today only to find out it’s her birthday! While the blond bomb shell took Hollywood by storm in her starring role as the one and only Serena on Gossip Girl, she caught my eye while perusing through Pinterest for countless hours. Her classic good looks coupled with her unrivaled sense of style makes her one of my favorite up and coming Hollywood starlets.

Impromptu nights out are always the most fun. Last Friday, while waltzing around Hollywood Blvd, I strolled into Gingerbay Cafe. Upon stepping foot inside this little-known Jamaican dive bar, I felt like I was miraculously transported to the island of paradise. The music, people and food were all authentically Caribbean.
In addition to a live band that mastered renditions of some of the greatest island hits, throughout the night while the band took breaks, old school reggae music videos played. These took me waaay back, I’m talking pre-training bra days!
Take a stroll down memory lane with these reggae classics.

Fashion imitates art with the proliferation or water color print attire. This fashion staple can easily be dressed up or down and worn from day to night.
My favorites water color garments are made in lightweight, breezy fabrics, which are essential during the blistering heat of summer in sunny South Florida.

Those of you who have been reading my blog regularly (I love you, by the way!) are well aware of my unwavering love for Solange. That being said, I was absolutely thrilled about her feature in the September issue of Elle magazine, where she provided readers with a sneak peek into her Brooklyn pad.
As you can imagine, SoSo’s home is a perfect reflection of her urban eclecticism. Describing how her personal style inspired her home decor, she states:
I had a moment when I looked at my closet and I was like ‘Whoa, I don’t really have any basics. And with my house, I wanted to find a balance of having great colors and patterns but also a really livable, warm, serene space.

If you watched the first season of Revenge I’m certain you are as excited as I about the impending premiere of the second season. If you haven’t seen the show, I suggest you do yourself a favor and get a hold of the first season before the September 30 Season 2 premiere.
While I’ve never been one to remember to tune it to a TV series , Revenge was the first show I’ve ever religiously watched week after week.
Here is the promo for the second season premiering next Sunday.
As an avid thrift store shopper, I have a number of tried and true shops I always hit up when seeking a vintage fix. However, one of my favorite spots to “shop” is right in my mother’s closet. Aside from the obvious financial benefit in shopping Mother Dearest’s closet, I find endless sentimental value in breathing new life into clothes my mother sported back in her heyday.
Tucked away in the depths of her closet are pieces she donned on some of her most joyous of days and the twinkle of nostalgia in her eyes upon my slipping into one of these impeccably-kept pieces is enough to get the waterworks going.
Earlier this year, I found this skirt in my mother’s closet that she purchased back in 1981… I was born in 1985, making it my senior!
If you have yet to shop your mother’s closet, I encourage you to take a look and see what treasures lie waiting to be rediscovered!
I found this image on Pinterest and it had me thinking about how truly fortunate we are that blessings are not predicated on merit. We would surely fall short daily! It is not due to our own works that we are blessed but by His grace alone.
I was pretty bummed out when I found out Tia a.k.a. Melanie was leaving The Game. I’ve been a huge fan of the Mowry Twins since their Sister Sister days and Tia was the major reason I watched The Game.
That being said, I was pleased to hear that Tia’s been cast for the pilot season of Nick at Nite’s Instant Mom, in which she depicts a 25 year old party girl that becomes an “instant mom” upon marrying an older man with two children from a previous marriage. A premiere date has yet to be released but I know I will be tuning in when the time comes.
Of course, the twins also have a reality show on E! “Tia & Tamera,” which chronicles their lives as they navigate through marriage, motherhood, and acting careers.
Check out my slideshow of favorite recent pictures of the twins.
